Empowering the Next Generation of Muslim Leaders

Inspiration. Education. Empowerment.

About The Collective

The Collective is a community-led initiative by Khidmah Organisation, created to inspire, educate, and empower Muslims in Leicester and beyond. Our vision is to build a vibrant network of individuals who are personally fulfilled, professionally driven, and spiritually grounded—so they can lead meaningful change in their communities.

We believe leadership starts with developing the whole person. That’s why The Collective focuses on three interconnected lenses: personal, professional, and spiritual. Through this holistic approach, we support individuals to thrive with purpose and impact.

Our Vision

“The Collective envisions a society where marginalised communities are empowered to thrive through access to opportunities, mentorship, and collaborative support. We aim to create a vibrant network where individuals can achieve their full potential, contribute meaningfully to their communities, and drive positive change.”

Our Mission

Collectively uplifting marginalised communities through inspiration, education, and empowerment.

The Problem We’re Tackling

  • Youth:Many young people lack clear guidance, role models, or opportunities to explore their potential.
  • Professionals:Muslim professionals often want to give back but don’t know how or where to start.
  • Businesses:Local businesses want to do more than donate—they want to engage, support, and make a real difference at a grassroots level.

Our Three Lenses of Development

  1. Personal: Self-reflection, values, character building, and emotional growth.
  2. Professional: Career development, skills training, and impact in the workplace or entrepreneurial ventures.
  3. Spiritual: Faith-based reflection, intention (niyyah), and purpose-driven action.

Our Programmes

Why Mentorship?

In our community, mentorship has the power to unlock confidence, direction, and opportunity. Yet many young people struggle to find relatable role models who understand their context. At the same time, professionals want to give back but often don’t know where to begin.

The Collective’s mentorship programme bridges that gap through a localised approach. We match mentees with mentors from the same city or locality who share similar backgrounds and understand the lived experiences of the participants.

Why Mentorship?

  • Matching:We pair mentees with mentors based on shared interests, goals, locality, and availability.
  • Commitment:The programme lasts 4–6 months with regular check-ins between mentors and mentees.
  • Support:We provide resources and guidance for both mentors and mentees to get the most from the relationship.

Who Is It For?

  • Mentees:Aged 18–25, living in Leicester or surrounding areas, seeking career or personal guidance.
  • Mentors:Muslim professionals, entrepreneurs, creatives or academics willing to offer their time and insight.

Our Mentorship Values

  • Trust & confidentiality
  • Faith-rooted guidance
  • Consistency & encouragement
  • Two-way growth and learning

Why Leadership?

Many young Muslims feel the weight of representing their faith without always having the tools or confidence to lead. This programme creates a safe, supportive environment where young adults can grow into leaders rooted in their values.

Our localised approach ensures participants engage with successful leaders and speakers from Leicester—individuals who share their background and understand the challenges and opportunities that come with it. This relatability enhances the impact of each session.
