The Khidmah Organisation Cemetery Clean-Up brings together volunteers of all ages to care for and restore our local cemeteries, preserving these sacred spaces with dignity and respect. Working alongside community partner MBCOL, volunteers dedicate their time to clearing overgrown grass, removing litter, maintaining pathways and improving the overall environment for families visiting their loved ones.
Our most recent clean-up saw over 100 volunteers come together to remove more than 60 bags of waste, transforming large sections of the cemetery and demonstrating the power of collective community action.
Rooted in the Islamic values of service (Khidmah), stewardship and respect for those who have passed away, the project provides an opportunity for volunteers to give back to the community while honouring the legacy of previous generations. It also raises awareness of the importance of maintaining shared public spaces and encourages civic pride through practical action.
The Cemetery Clean-Up is a powerful example of Khidmah Organisation’s mission to Build Bridges and Connect Communities, bringing together individuals, families and local organisations in a shared effort to serve the wider community. Further sessions to be planned for 2026
