Age UK - Working with the elderly
Khidmah Organisation has been assisting some of the most vulnerable people in the community by supporting the work of Age UK Leicestershire & Rutland.
Since 2011 we have been providing financial assistance to ensure Muslim elders continue to receive appropriate services. KO’s involvement has also helped to create and develop activities specific to the needs of Muslim elders.
Health promotion activities and development of services supported by KO include:
- – female only exercise sessions
- – introduction of technologies including Lap top & Wii console
- – contribution towards travel costs for the most isolated to attend Age UK services and day trips to coastal areas
Each year KO has supported the Eid celebrations at Age UK’s Catherine House, including a free lunch, recognition of volunteers and entertainment delivered by students from Madani School to over 100 people.
Age UK said,
“Through your generosity we have been able to arrange transport for users to attend Catherine House where they are enjoying a freshly cooked meal and social interaction, helping enhance their quality of life”
Muslim elders said:
“Thank you for giving us a great opportunity to go to the seaside we really enjoyed it”
“Due to the exercise I’m finding it easier to cope with problems with my joints”
KO looks forward to developing further this valuable partnership with Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland.
